To celebrate the ongoing success of the “Healthy Seas: A Journey from Waste to Wear” initiative, MEDASSET held a fashion design competition in which 10 students and recent graduates of the AKTO college of Art and Design in Athens took part. Each of the 2 pieces created by participants was made from fabric woven from ECONYL® yarn, a new material made from recycled fishing nets and other waste, as well as other sustainably sourced materials. The travelling exhibition “Healthy Seas Fashion Project” showcases 10 of the 20 garments.

In June 2016 the exhibition premiered at the Golden Hall shopping center in Athens. From July - September 2016 it was hosted by the CretAquarium in the city of Heraklion in Crete. In December 2016 the exhibition opened in Deltapark in Vrouwenpolder (Netherlands), where it will remain for 2 years.
